Attempt to imagine that your site is an automobile or and your role is to drive it to its final destination.
Knowing where you are going
If you were driving and you did not know your last destination, it’d be disastrous. You would be a threat to other people. You’d be going along a motorway and not know which exit to take, you would cause chaos driving around a roundabout and you’d be putting your passengers in peril. A map or plan is the business catalyst for success.
In business, there are lots of firms that don’t know where they’re going and this is the largest problem they have.
Get fuelled up
If you were driving from London to Manchester you would likely fill your car full of petrol. In business, think about the resources you want to drive your business forward. You want your plan; you need resources like people and a selling budget. Fuel will get your from A to B.
Observe the road limit
Speed signs are found at the side of roads and motorways to warn you when to drive fast or slow. They exist to protect you and other people. Same as your internet business. There are times to go faster and times to slow down. You can’t expect to drive at full steam all of the time.
Warning Signs
Alarm signals exist to advise you of danger. Using tools like Google Analytics can alert you of website traffic and conversion on your internet site. Similarly monitoring your leads and online sales month on month are warning signs that may alert you when your intention is not going well or not.
Concentrate
There are lots of distractions when driving an automobile or a business. You have got to concentrate and keep focused on your own goal and not someone else’s. There’s no point in criticising some one else’s journey to the detriment of your own.
Take breaks if a lengthy journey
If you are on a long journey, take a break. You need time off to reflect, re-charge your batteries and recover for the reminder of your journey. Being energized is key to reaching your destination safely and happily.
Key an eye on what others are doing
The actions of others can affect what you are doing. You need to keep an eye peeled for what other drivers are doing. Their actions can affect yours if you’re not alert to the dangers. Think of how many large music retailers such as Our Price, Tower Records and Woolworths weren’t alert to customers preferring to buy digital music on the internet.
You have reached your destination
And eventually you have reached your destination. What now? Well you’ve got to prepare for the subsequent journey.
