Safety signs within the workplace perform the role of safety messenger communicating correct and safe actions relevant for that locale.

Where ever a safety sign is placed it means there is some kind of hazard within that locality which represents a risk to the welfare of the organization. It is particular to that place and it is of import for those at that locality to comprehend the message and abide by it.

With the import of hazard signs for human and environmental health they are designed to have simple and clear in communicating their content. With the legal obligations on employers to guarantee a safe workplace it may be a good idea to provide training on how to behave for each different sign identified risk. It’s commonly recognized how much easier it is to understand pictures and symbols often more rapidly than the written word which is language dependent; hence, the simplicity and wide utilization of graphics, on warning signs.

More over, within many areas there are legislated requirements covering the necessity to display certain safety signs within workplaces. This is not a surprise given the high social costs attached to accidents at work, not to mention any pain and suffering.

The signs message must be clearly interpreted and acted upon in an appropriate time frame; all of which is affected by the level of light.

When planning to install danger signs, the initial step is a safety survey of the work site, pursuit of hazard reduction strategies as is appropriate and finally to use safety signs for identifying those irreducible risks.  There are many classifications of signs and then categories of seriousness associated with the hazard. Be sure to identify the hazards and their associated risks appropriately, signing them as is appropriate. It will be time well invested.
