Internet Marketing Plan

Strategic internet marketing has been the latest inclination among small businesses these days. They are trying every effort to increase their customer base and are now becoming highly dependent on the influence of the World Wide Web to increase product awareness among their targeted audience. They turn to any form of internet marketing that their budget could afford like banner advertisements, blogging, article marketing and others just to gain spotlight in the digital platform and bring all their marketing goals into complete realization.

Hiring a professional to conduct their internet marketing expertise over your website would be best if you have the extra dollars to burn for that. Nonetheless, you can still go on with your internet marketing campaign by deciding which tips from the eBooks that you read or online courses that you took is suitable for your business.

To begin with, create an official website for your business which shall hold detailed information about your company, the brand you offer and the services that people trust you for. Your website becomes the first contact point between you and your future customers. With a one or two-second scrutiny, viewers can decide right away if they will continue browsing through your webpages or not. Each single decision can make or break the future of your business. So you better consider the following guidelines in getting SEO services which can help you make customers out of these browsers.

As soon as someone drops by your site, he would want to know quickly what you could offer him. This is why, direct to the point web content works best for any type of website. Viewers do not want to be misled or to be left guessing on what your site is all about after flipping through site’s pages. Use simple words professionally to tell them openly why they need your product or service and to place an order now. Be sure to include a detailed instruction on how to go about the purchase.

Easy navigation comes as the next strategic internet marketing tip to enhancing your website. Provide a simple menu that would lead browsers to informative pages of easy-to-read paragraphs. Moreover, as part of small business internet marketing efforts, you have to include the order form complete
with all the other ordering processes in a single sheet. Besides being time-saving, it will keep the customer from changing his mind about the purchase. Honesty with the real prices of your merchandise is the best policy. Anyone would feel bad if he learns that they are fooled with the prices.

Surveys say that most people are drawn to something through their sense of sight. That’s true especially to online browsers more than the web literature they first take a look at the images or the graphics. As advised by an internet marketing consultant have a professional design for your domain and match it appropriate photos that would attract your targeted market.

The reason why we have strategic internet marketing is the need of most websites to establish online presence. For all we know, with it you can turn simple browsers to avid customers. One characteristic of humans is being dependent on someone they know. In sales, they buy from someone whom they can trust. This is where the importance of “About Us” page sets in. Here, you can reveal everything about your company, your brand and all your contact information for your customers to get in touch with you. Along with your honesty, build the latter’s trust in you by inserting a “Private Policy” on this page that will assure them safekeeping of their personal information.

Any visitor who drops by your website would feel the urge to come back when he feels appreciated. You can offer giveaways or product or service trial while you offer product discounts to first time orders. Shoot them a “thank you” email too for their visit.

These are all parts of strategic internet marketing that you can infuse to your company website. You can try one or two or a combination of them to see which will work for your business.

Small Business Online Marketing

You have just started your small business and the lack of customers is becoming a concern for you. The problem might lie on the quality of small business marketing ideas that you have. When you start your company, having an effective marketing strategy is very important because this is how you will promote your new brand to your customers.

Do not expect that you will immediately create a buzz just because you have opened your new store in your local town. Rather, create your own buzz to capture the interest of the people around the area.

Again, your marketing strategies are very important to the success of getting your brand known. There are hundreds of marketing ideas out there and you have to be smart in choosing which one will suit your business perfectly so you won’t waste money. Using free strategic internet marketing is also a good move as it is cost-effective and you can easily reach thousands of people in just a few minutes.

The basics of marketing, whether online or in the real world, still apply to most businesses. And so if you are serious with everything, here are some suggestions:

Advertise Within Your Means

Large corporations certainly have bigger budgets when it comes to their advertising campaigns. Now do not think for a second that you also need millions of dollars just to make yours a success. What you need to do is to find that right advertising medium that is perfect for your own budget and try to make it work. For example, if all that you can afford right now is to print a dozen posters, then make the most out of it. At least place each poster in the best spot where your customers can notice them.

Try To Reach All Possible Customers

And by this means offering different products or services with different prices. This does not mean that you will have two very similar product and then have different price for each one. What it means is that you will need to create a different version of your product that will be more affordable for most people. It may mean that that product has fewer features then be it. This is because it is usually a good small business Internet marketing idea to be able to cover the different levels in your market as to avoid being outranked by other businesses.

Check Your Competition

Always do your research in terms of what your competitors are doing in the market. What marketing tools are they using , what changes in their branding are they implementing, or what new product are they offering in the market? These are just some useful information that you should know today.

Shorter Ads Usually Work Best

Keep in mind that people usually have very short attention span and so when you are creating an advertisement, better keep it short and sweet. Meaning, to the point.

With all these small business marketing ideas, you can now try thinking of different marketing strategies or SEO services that you can do for your small business to flourish. Don’t forget to use the Internet to do some marketing too.

You know, I have been an internet marketer for almost ten years now.  I have reached a point where I actually support myself, and quite well, I might add, from my internet businesses.

It wasn’t always so.  I made a lot of dumb, and sometimes ignorant (the two are not the same) mistakes along the way.  Somehow, I managed to learn enough about internet marketing to get successful at it in spite of myself.  However, in the process, I paid for a lot of junk and wasted my time on a lot of things that didn’t work.  I usually refer to this as “accidental tuition”.

As a result, I get a little irked when someone approaches me, or posts a message on a forum, saying or implying that they want to get into or have found an internet business that “makes money” or “guarantees” success.  I have found that a successful internet business is just like the brick-and-mortar kind.  It takes dedication, motivation, inspiration, hard work…and sometimes blind luck.

A successful internet marketing strategy is just like its non-internet business counterpart.  It is made up of several factors, and does not simply consist of putting a guy on the sidewalk with a sign on a stick, or building a website and submitting it to search engines.  Most people would not expect the sign on the stick to work marketing miracles, but, probably in internet ignorance, they tend to believe the website + search engine = success scenario.

Many who read this article think that way, at least until they read what I wrote in the paragraph above this one.  Despite the negativity of the previous paragraph, however, I am not trying to discourage anyone from forming an internet business or diving into the internet marketing pool.  It’s fun in here, and the more the merrier!  I DO want to dispel unrealistic expectations of what is involved in running an internet business in general, and what is involved in internet marketing in particular.

A point I am gradually sneaking up on is that, like many things in life, successful internet marketing may not be as simple as it looks.  Nor will one single strategy work for every internet business at all times.  It will be necessary to learn many things and some, which may seem simple and basic, may need to be modified to meet the needs of each unique internet business.  The bright side is that many techniques are tried and true and will probably serve anyone well, although they might work better for one business than another.

Internet marketing itself can seem relatively simple.  You start with a good product or service, create quality marketing vehicles (most important being the website), and then you lead people to the website.  In fact, that’s all that internet marketing is about…getting interested people to your website.

How do you do that?  Well, that’s where things get complicated. You can use Pay-Per-Click search engines, search engine optimization, opt-in mailing lists, free gifts, business cards, flyers, contests, rewards!  The list is bounded only by your imagination.

There are four basic ways to acquire the mass of background information you need for a successful internet marketing strategy:

1.  Go through the internet university of hard knocks, like I, and so many others, have. The tuition is high, and it will probably take you a few years to get your diploma.

2.  Go into research.  That is, read everything you can find on the internet, running an internet business, and internet marketing.  This too will take a long period of time, and you will still probably have to go out of pocket as you test your learning at various points.

3.  Find a mentor.  There are people on the internet who have been successful and who share this information with others.  Quite often, even they charge a fee, but your opportunity for success might be higher.  However, it is difficult to find someone to be your mentor.  They are running their own businesses.

4.  Take an internet marketing course.  If you can find the right course, even though you will have to pay for the course, the information you can glean can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars as you wade into the fast running stream of internet business opportunities.  I have taken three of these courses myself, and wish I had known of their existence when I first started trying to make money on the internet.  I could have save thousands of dollars and hours of time, and an immeasurable amount of frustration.

Simply taking an internet marketing course will not guarantee you success, of course.  In fact, you will begin to realize how many ways you can fail!  However, you will learn important lessons that you can use to create a successful internet business.  I do NOT recommend trying to learn it on your own.

It never ceases to amaze me how often new webmasters set about their online business at the start without actually having clearly defined strategies on how to market and promote the website and the product.

Now this article is for internet marketing newbies, so the strategies for website promotion are fairly basic therefore experienced internet marketers are under no compulsion to proceed.

If you are a newbie, however, please pay attention as these website promotional strategies are what you will need to employ over and over again every time you have a new product to promote. Apply these basic techniques and the bedrock of success is laid for you.

Remember, no traffic, no sales.

Free listings in Search Engines: Everyone loves to get something for free. The same applies to free traffic.
Consider building a keyword list related to your product before you build your website. This way, you write your website content crafting in those keywords for which the site needs to be optimised. Don’t overdo it though as the search engines are becoming too smart and may think you are attempting to trick them. The more pages you have, the easier it is to have your site optimised for your chosen keywords.

Pay Per Click Advertising: Here the search engines list your site based on your bid for a particular keyword(s). Your position in the search listing strongly depends on how much you are prepared to pay for those keywords and the bidding price  is also dependent on the popularity and competitiveness of your niche. This Pay Per Click (PPC) listings are the ones you see on the right side of your screen in the search results in, for instance, Google and Yahoo who now own Overture.
It’s always a good idea to know your website statistics especially conversion rates to determine how much you will be prepared to pay for those keywords – what I call your bid price affordability. This way you don’t operate your PPC Campaign at a loss.
Know Your Numbers!

Ezine Advertising: You search for popular ezines (these are electronic magazines or newsletters) in Google or Yahoo by entering Keywords ‘ezines directory’.
Visit these directories and look out for ezines that fit your products and also the subscription base of those ezines. You then choose to place Solo ads, Sponsor ads or Classified ads on ezines of your choice at an agreed price. The choice of which type of Ad and what ezine(s) to place your Ad would depend on your personal preference and your budget as well.

Linking Your Website: You need to set out linking strategies that can boost your business in two ways. First is that the more links you have, the more the search engines will rank your site and consequently your position in the organic search engines. Secondly, you get traffic deservedly from your link partners website. I’m sure you will welcome targeted free traffic from any source.

Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate program are a great source of free traffic and income at no cost to your good self. Affiliates are business partners who sign up to sell your product for an agreed commission. You can make a fortune on the internet from a great product if you have tons of affiliates working for themselves and you. An affiliate software is necessary to track your affiliate sales, visitors. Don’t forget to provide your affiliate with marketing tools and training materials to assist them.

Offline Advertising: This is quite often ignored. Just because your business is online does not mean you cannot generate traffic offline. You will be surprised at how potent this weapon can be. Write Press Releases about your product, Product review etc and send it to editors of newspapers and magazine. The one I love most is what we refer to as web ad. Here you use classified ads in newspapers and magazines to drive traffic to your site.

These are basic strategies you must have mapped out before commencing work on your website. This way you can start marketing the very day your website goes live.
Always think marketing first.
